Hashimoto or Menopause? | Hashimoto Coach
Hashimoto or menopause? Learn how fatigue, sleep problems and hormonal changes can overlap, and which signs may help you understand what is happening.
Just one more month and I'll be turning 45. When I used to think of 45, I thought that was really old. Now, I have to say, lately I've been feeling quite old myself.
About 10 years ago, a lot started changing for me. I blamed it on work stress, quitting smoking, and other issues going on, only to be diagnosed with Hashimoto's a year later. A journey followed to get stabilized on levothyroxine.
Yet, apart from a few good spells, I haven't felt like the fit, energetic, fun Kris in a very long time.
Independent, cheerful, full of life, and decisive.
A lot has happened since then—Covid hit, losses of loved ones, job loss.
Once again, I thought: it must be that, I just need to rest.
But what if I've been living like an elite athlete for years—no smoking, no drinking, a very stable circadian rhythm, healthy organic food, and lots of walking—and yet I still feel so miserable?
I've always learned and lived by doing things myself, just pushing through, but now I want to see if I can benefit from BHRT.
Because after reading back through many diaries and reviewing my symptoms...
...could it also be menopause (which I might have already been dealing with for 4 years)?
Because if my brain is lacking certain chemicals, I can do whatever I want, but my elite athlete lifestyle isn't going to pull me out of it.
I hope with all my heart that this is going to help, because I want my life back... or at least to be able to participate again.
And if I need bioidentical hormones for that, then that's perfectly fine!
To be continued! They are already in the house, just waiting for the right moment!
